The Ingonyi are large bird-like people that live in the highest layers of the world. They are just under 6 feet tall on average, though their slightly slumped posture would often make it seem they are shorter than this. Their hollow bones that allow them to fly makes them much lighter than their land-bound neighbors. Ingonyi have large round eyes on either side of their head, a bird-like beak, and feathers all over their body ranging from whites to tans to darker browns. They have large talons on each hand and foot that can be used for attack, and their arms have long feathers on them which they use to fly.
The Ingonyi live on the islands that float in the shores. These islands are not big enough for large cities, but they are big enough for how the tribes are organized. You will often find large tribes scattered amongst tight groupings of islands, sometimes creating bridges between them. As one of the few people able to freely fly, the Ingonyi often travel from island to island with only a few main tribes being stationary.
The Ingonyi are influenced by African tribes such as the Zulu and the Xhosa.
Age. Ingonyi reach adulthood in their mid-twenties and can live up to a century and a half.
Size. Ingonyi are just under 6 feet tall. They have lightweight bodies that weigh between 60 and 120 pounds. Your size is Medium.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Banyu. Banyu is a language that includes clicks and whistles and is tonal. It is hard for other people to speak.
Flight. Your fling speed is equivalent to your movement. Due to your light bones, you are always considered to be under the effects of featherfall. While flying, you cannot use weapons that require 2 hands or cast spells. If you are wearing medium or heavy armor, or become encumbered, you lose the effect of featherfall.
Keen Sight. You have advantage on Awareness (ACU) – Perception rolls that rely on sight.
Talons. Your unarmed strikes deal 1d4 slashing damage.
Ingonyi Lineages are listed below.
Ukhozi
Ukhozi, or Eagle, are the warriors of their tribes. Their powerful wings allow them to stay in the air and fight longer than other Ingonyi, and their powerful talons mean that whether it is in the air or on the ground, they maintain combat dominance.
Raptor Talons. Your talons do 1d8 slashing damage instead of 1d4.
Strong Fliers. Your powerful wings help you fly better. You have advantage on rolls made to maintain flight.
Uklebe
Uklebe, or Falcon, are scouts and messengers. They are the fastest things in the sky wherever they go. In their tribes, they fly high and look out for any approaching threat. This trait is what many of the airship companies desire and Uklebe are the most likely to be found working on airships of any Ingonyi.
Raptor Wings. Increase your flying speed by 2.
Nimble Flight. When you fall, you can Spend 2 Action Points as a reaction to make a Mobility (Agility) defense roll (target 10) to stop falling and fly in place until the start of your next turn.
Isikhova
Isikhova, or Owl, are the silent masters of the night sky. While most Ingonyi opt to stay in their lands, the Isikhova are the most likely to leave their lands for more foreign lands. Their night vision and silent nature make them naturally adept at scouting or thieving equally.
Superior Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Silent Feathers. You have a skill boost in Stealth (AGL) – Sneaking.
Inqe
The Inqe, or Vulture, are the spiritual leaders of their people. Each tribe often has one that leads their people by communing with the spirits of the dead and by communing with the spirits of the air.
Death Eaters. You have adapted to eat dead and rotting food. You have a resistance to poison damage and advantage on defense rolls against disease.
Air Spirits. You know the Gust cantrip. Will is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
