Fae and dark fae, seelie and unseelie. The summer court is the in the feywilds and the winter court is in the shadowfell. The winter court is not evil, but they are very much not good., of course, neither is the summer court. The summer court is ruled by Queen Titania and her consort Oberon, while the winter court is ruled by Queen Maeve, Queen of Air and Darkness who has no living consort, she takes mortals as consorts when she is bored. They have power, but only compared to other mortals. When she is bored with him she kils him, or send him to fight and die, etc.. Kings of the courts…the king of the courts represents the opposite nature of the court. While the summer queen is fair and beautiful, the summer king is ugly and harsh. The summer king is also called the goblin king and is one of the leaders of the Wild Hunt. He is also known as (Herne or Gwyn ap Nudd something along these lines as inspiration). While the winter court is cold and harsh, the winter king is gentle and kind. I don’t want to do santa claus as that is easy and too soft. Odin is a good place, but too powerful and I don’t want to directly include a real world god.
